All Teacher Prep Program requirements are changing as of the Fall 2018 semester. Coursework on advisement sheets are valid only for those that have been officially admitted to the TPP no later than September 30, 2017 and have all courses completed by Fall 2018.
To be admitted, one needs a 3.0 Rutgers GPA, passing Praxis Core scores, and an appointment with the TPP staff no later than September 30, 2017. Consult a TPP staff member if you have questions.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 representing A), as evidenced through a copy of most recent Rutgers transcript. Post- baccalaureate students can provide an official transcript from their undergraduate degree granting institution showing a 3.0 or higher overall GPA .*Please consult the TPP for questions about this requirement.
- Minimum scores on of the Praxis CORE exam: Reading: 156; Writing: 162; Mathematics: 150
There are no exceptions to the entrance requirements.
Admission for College Graduates
Students who obtained a baccalaureate degree from Rutgers need to apply for re-enrollment through the Office of Academic Advising, not the Admissions Office. Returning Rutgers students will note that their grade point average is adjusted as additional courses are taken.
Students who obtained a baccalaureate degree from another institution must apply through the Admissions Office and obtain a transcript evaluation of previous courses.
Once a student has met the requirements for program admission, he/she should schedule an appointment for admission to the Teacher Preparation Program no later than September 30, 2017 in order to student teach Fall 2018. Call (856) 225-6051 to make an appointment.
