Is student teaching a full time semester?

Posted at 1:21 p.m. Dec. 19, 2011,

Student teaching is an entire semester (15 weeks) of full-time, unpaid work in an actual classroom under the supervision of a cooperating teacher and a university supervisor. Student teachers must abide by the arrival and departure times of their assigned school, observe and teach the entire school day for the student teaching semester, be available for before and after school activities as required by the cooperating teacher, and participate in all professional activities throughout the school day and over the course of the semester.
